Our Challenges

Prototypes had three flaws: the empty roller bottle leaked when users tilted it (after filling with oil), the roller ball stuck when gliding (frustrating DIY use), and the logo on caps smudged off when handled. These issues threatened the kit’s usability—their customers rely on leakproof, easy-to-use empty roller bottles for daily use.

Root Cause Analysis

Our team identified the problems: leaks stemmed from a loose silicone seal between the roller ball and bottle neck (1.2mm gap); stuck rollers were caused by a tight 0.8mm fit between the ball and neck; smudged logos resulted from water-based ink that couldn’t adhere to the cap’s matte surface.

Our Solution

To fix the empty roller bottle, we reduced the neck-seal gap to 0.6mm and upgraded to a thicker silicone seal—testing 30 pcs filled samples for leak resistance. We widened the roller ball’s neck fit to 1.0mm and polished the balls for smooth gliding. For logos, we switched to solvent-based, scratch-resistant ink and added a UV cure step to lock it in.
